Anton earns 2nd Automobile Association Philippines top driver award
MANILA, Philippines - Baguio City’s multi-titled race driver Carlos Anton earned another distinction when he emerged as the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) Driver of the Year for Hillclimb Racing recently in the AAP Awards Night at the Valle Verde Country Club.
It was Anton’s second Hillclimb award from the AAP after bagging the same recognition in 2007. Anton capped a “perfect season” after he ruled all six rounds of the championship in 2008 on board his Mark Young-prepared CRX coupled with Yokohama A-048 tires.
This is the highest award a driver can get in this country and I’m so proud to be getting it again this year.” Anton said.
With the success, Anton said he had decided to stay with the Mark Young-Yokohama team backed by Hornitex floor tiles, Total Fuels and Lubricants, Home Outlet, Autoshack and Steaks and Toppings restaurants for the 2009 season.
“The first leg will be in the hills of La Union and we will be preparing very hard for the race. The competition is getting tougher and stronger. We also plan to compete in the Philippine Autocross championship this year,” said Young.
