Newcomer Kaikkonen dominates race of champs

-

MANILA, Philippines - Newcomer Veli-Matti Kaikkonen ruled the TRS-Ford Focus Time Attack Race of Champions recently at the Subic International Raceway.

Kaikkonen clocked 58.14 seconds to top the event sponsored by Goodyear, Ford Racing, Aguila Autoglass, SpeedLab, Unichip, K&N, H&R, Starbright Bodykits, Rota, OMP, Dupont, Philippine Auto Club, C! Magazine and Business World.

Roy Villarosa bagged the runner-up honors following a close fight just 0.03 seconds behind Kaikkonen while lady driver Joy Delorei, an avid racing enthusiast, was third in 58.65 seconds.

The other participants were Stefan Wolf, Raffy David and Marvin Herrera.

As part of TRS race development program, Race of Champions is an opportunity for racing enthusiasts to try their hand in racing.

“We are trying to help build motorsport, by giving our students a way into the different disciplines of racing,” said JP Tuason, TRS founder and multi awarded race car driver. “We believe if we work together, we can make motorsports bigger in the country.”
