Taiwan, Hong Kong rule Pangaea Cup slo-pitch

-

MANILA, Philippines - Super Division defending champion Hengta team from Taiwan was missing in the recently concluded 16th Pangaea Cup Slo-pitch International Softball tournament but Taiwan still took the title after the smoke cleared.

Taiwan’s power-hitting team Tong Han’s crushed local team Cebuana Lhuillier, which recently ruled the Bangkok International Softball league, 34-11, to rule the Super Division. The other teams in the division were the Fatboyz-Guzzlers and Korea Heat.

The Hong Kong Turkey retained the Division A title, beating Los Guzzleros, 18-7, at the Alabang Country Club. Gas House Gang and Cebuana Pera Padala also made it to the Division A play-off.

At the Club level, last year’s champion Entom Tigers from Los Baños crashed out early in the tournament but another local team, the Meralco Sluggers, blanked Larry Carlsberg Slammer, 9-0, to keep the crown in local hands. Other Club level teams were the Tokyo Ghost Riders, Brewerkz River Rats, Sta. Fe Blok Mad, All Care Insurance, Hong Kong Razorback, and Entom.

The tournament was hosted by the Pangaea International Trading Corporation and was organized by Pure Play Sports Management. Sponsors are Cebuana Lhuillier, Lifeline Ambulance Rescue, Phiten, Pocari Sweat, SMB, Squeezed 4 U, Handle Bar & Grill, and Omni Int’l Consultants.
