Tuason Racing School unveils Mazda BT-50 drift truck

-

MANILA, Philippines - Tuason Racing School has teamed up with Mazda Philippines as it unveils and competes the first ever drift truck in the world in today’s drift races in Alabang Town Center.

The Mazda BT-50 is the first ever pick up truck to be converted into a drifting vehicle for competition. Two brand-new Mazda BT-50’s were converted for the team’s use powered by a 3.0L Diesel, 4-Cylinder engine, thus making it the first diesel-powered drifting pick up.

“This is the embodiment of the Mazda B-50 brand. It’s versatile and playful together with solid performing vehicle. It’s the absolute play truck,” said Prudz Castillo, brand manager for Mazda.

Drifting has become one of the latest craze in motorsports. Drift cars are usually made from rear wheel shorter-based sedan vehicles. On its first test outing in the drifting races, the cloaked Mazda BT-50 made it into the final 8, under the stewardship of TRS race engineer Fransisco Blanco.

The truck quickly made quite a buzz during the event and in the internet forums.

The Mazda BT-50 -TRS Drift team will be composed of JP Tuason, Mike Tuason, Francisco Blanco, James Deakin and John Tyrell Esguerra – all running in the amateur series with the support of Goodyear, Speedlab, Aguila Auto Glass, Unichip, OMP, Dupont, Starbright Body Kits, Rota wheels, Fremuff, H&R, K&N, Philippine Auto Club, C! Magazine, Business World and AutoCraft.
