Karting season unfolds at Carmona

MANILA, Philippines - Karting returns with the kickoff of the 2009 Pagcor Sports Karting Super Series this weekend at the Carmona Circuit Philippines.

Some 60 karters clash for the titles at stake in this event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and sponsored by Pagcor Sports and Palmer Asia Inc. – the fire and security expert.

Titles at stake are the Senior ROK 125, Formula 125 Open Senior, Junior ROK Novice, Junior ROK 125 Expert, Yamaha Novice SL, Yamaha Expert SL, the Mini ROK and the Baby-ROK classes.

Also on the line is the coveted Karter of the Year award which will be conferred to the overall champion of the Senior ROK 125 classes and the Clubman Karter of the Year award to the overall champion of the Yamaha Expert Class at the end of the season.

The other major awards are the Junior Karter of the Year, Rookie of the Year and the Cadet Karter of the Year.

This season is also expected to be more exciting with participating teams Marcelo Racing, AUTS Racing, Ready2Race, Jet Racing, Alessandra Racing, GP1 Racing and new team Tough Gear beefing up their line-ups with talented recruits.

Reigning Karter of the Year Stefano Marcelo will skip action as he’s currently in Italy racing for the world renowned TonyKart Factory Team.  

This makes the opening leg a wide race among young karters John Alvarez of Maranello-San Miguel Corp.-Marcelo Racing, Javi Benitez of Jet Racing, Andres Calma and Bobby Domingo of AUTS Racing, Vencer John Suba of Tough Gear, Roby Benito of Ready2Race and reigning Asian ROK champion Juha Turalba.
