Army, PMA judokas show class

MANILA, Philippines - Philippine Army and Philippine Military Academy upstaged their respective rivals to rule the All Uniformed Services Judo Cup and the All Uniformed Services Junior (Student/Cadet) Judo Cup, respectively, at the Martial Arts Building, PA Wellness Center in Taguig City recently.

The Armymen humbled their taller counterparts from the Philippine Air Force (PAF), Philippine Navy (PN), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the Philippine National Police (PNP) to rule the All Uniformed Services Judo Cup while PMA bested its rivals from the Philippine College of Criminology, Cordillera Career Development College of Criminology, De La Salle University ROTC and University of the Philippines ROTC to reign in the junior side.

Master Sergeants Dennis Lloyd Catipon (Res), Noel Norada, and Alwin Esteban, together with Corporals Roel Pacional, Dharyl Lucero and Michael Natividad spearheaded the PA’s romp while Master Sergeant Jenielou Mosqueda (Res), Privates First Class Evangeline Angana and Maribel Jambora headed the distaff side.

The Army judokas went home with three gold, three silver and three bronze medals. Captain Simer Malik Boransing and Dharyl Lucero bagged the silver medals in the 66 kg and 60 kg categories, while Natividad, Norada and Esteban took the bronze medals in the 52 kg, 60 kg, and 73 kg categories, respectively.

Navy also won a gold medal in the Juniors Cup.
