MANILA, Philippines - Dave Moralde buried a three-pointer in the closing seconds to lift Smart-Manila to a 66-65 win over Quezon City for a 2-0 sweep of their Nokia National Basketball Training Center D-League at the San Juan gym.
With the score tied at 63-all, Smart-Manila went to Moralde, who delivered the game-winner. He finished with a game-high 12 points in the tournament backed by Nokia Philippines and TAO Corp.
“This game was quite difficult for us, but it’s better this way since it is a test of character for the players,” said Manila coach Ato Badolato.
“Hopefully, in the next two months we could better prepare for our opponents in the national finals,” he added.
