San Antonio de Padua scores big win in Shakey's volleyball

MANILA, Philippines - San Antonio de Padua beat Don Antonio Zuzuarrequi Memorial Academy in three sets over the weekend to gain a shot at one of the four semifinal slots in the Shakey’s Girls Volleyball League.

With Rialen Sante leading the offensive with 14 hits, the SADP tossers downed their DAZMA counterparts, 21-25, 25-12, 25-19, and set an all-important match with idle and Bracket D leader De la Salle Lipa this weekend.

The two teams will meet for a place in the semifinals of this meet supported by Petron Treats, Toby’s Sports, Dunkin’ Donuts, Mikasa and Asics.

Last Saturday, De la Salle Lipa stunned Angeles University Foundation behind the heroics of Christine Agno, Katrina Carangan and Kim dela Vega, 25-12, 25-11.

Despite the loss, AUF is still in contention for the cross-over stage. To make it, AUF must beat JIL College tomorrow.          

In other matches, Southville Int’l School surprised Diliman Preparatory School, 18-25, 25-21, 25-21, and St. Francis of Assisi beat Angelicum College, 25-16, 25-20.

Southville must beat Grace Christian HS tomorrow for a chance to enter the cross-over matches via the quotient system.
