Host St. Francis of Assisi College made sure there won’t be any endgame lapses this time as it dominated De Ocampo Memorial College, 72-58, to barge into the best-of-three championship of the first Universities and Colleges of Luzon Athletic Association (UCLAA) yesterday at the San Andres gym in Manila.
Starring the trio of Erwilson Santos, Rex Leynes and Raymond Ilagan who combined for 60 points, the Doves controlled most of the match to set up a championship clash with Philippine College of Criminology. The series starts on Thursday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
De Ocampo forced yesterday’s playoff when Cris Otacan sank a triple at the backcourt as the buzzer sounded for a 72-71 squeaker last Monday. St. Francis led by as many as 23 points during that game.
Mang Inasal, Air21, Besuto prawn crackers, Villa De Oro Boracay, Magarbo, Magnolia, Basketbolista Magazine and www.gameface.ph are supporting the inaugural UCLAA season.
De Ocampo and Las Piñas College will dispute third place. The juniors finals will pit PCCr versus St. Jude College.
