PCCr gains UCLAA finals

MANILA, Philippines -- Arjay Dionero sank a triple with 14 seconds left as Philippine College of Criminology nipped Las Piñas College, 59-58, to advance to the finals of the first Universities and Colleges of Luzon Athletic Association (UCLAA) basketball tournament at the San Andres gym in Manila yesterday.

De Ocampo Memorial College relied on a triple to edge St. Francis of Assisi College, 72-71, and force a rubber match for the second finals berth.

Dionero finished with 17 points while Julius Manalo backed him up with 15.

In the other semis game, Cris Otacan buried desperation try from way out to lift De Ocampo, which will dispute the other finals berth on Saturday.
