Ramirez to write book on sports

-

After serving the Philippine Sports Commission for a decade, former chair William “Butch” Ramirez now wants to write a book.

“I’ll be finishing a book, I thought I could finish it last December. It’s about Philippine sports, why these problems occurred,” said Ramirez in turnover rites Friday coinciding with the agency’s 19th anniversary celebration at the Rizal Badminton Center.

“I’ll not be writing about politics nor is it about a collection of history but I’ll be writing about the diagnosis of Philippine sports, the prescription and the dynamics of it,” he added.

Ramirez also stressed that while he’ll be having more time with his family, he will continue contributing to sports development and go back to his teaching profession.

“I’ll be back to continue the Mindanao sports for peace program for the tri-people – the Muslims, Christians and Lumads – and I would like to help Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and Davao City sports simultaneously,” said Ramirez, a native of Davao.

“I’ll also have two loads at Ateneo de Davao, I’ll be sharing my experiences to the Ateneo community.

“Then I’ll spend some time with my family, the kids because I’ve been absent for 10 years now,” he added.

And like the book he is writing, Ramirez said he is not closing the book on a possible return to the agency.

“You can’t close the book in the future; if the President taps me in the future, why not,” he said. – Joey Villar
