Garnet-II, Mowelfund races at SLLBP
Manila Jockey Club (MJC), owner and operator of San Lazaro Leisure and Business Park (SLLBP) in Carmona, Cavite, will host two big racing events today - the Garnett-II and the Mowelfund Races - both sponsored by the Philippine Racing Commission (Philracom).
To engage in a battle royale in the first stakes race of the year at SLLBP – the Philracom 2009 Garnett-II – are seasoned local four years-and-above runners led by Mayor Benhur Abalos’ Ibarra, Lorraine Uy Wi’s Don Enrico and Antonio Tan Jr.’s couple entry Shining Fame and Native Land. The P300,000 first prize will be disputed over a distance of 1,500 meters.
Winners, including runners-up, second, third and fourth placers, are guaranteed P112,500, P62,500 and P25,000, respectively.
In the Mowelfund Races, eight Trophy Races are lined up with their respective added and guaranteed prizes to the winners.
They are The Andrea Del Rosarion Trophy Race (added P20,000 to the winner only), Eula Valdez Trophy Race (P20,000), Maui Taylor Trophy Race (P20,000), Iwa Moto Trophy Race (P20,000), Ding Dong Dantes Trophy Race (P20,000), Mowelfund Trophy Race (P20,000), Boots Anson Roa Trophy Race (Guaranteed P180,000 to the winner only) and the Mowelfund Cup Race (P300,000) distributed to first to fourth placers.
The Trophy Races are sponsored by Goldfilar Trucking, Mandaluyong Mayor Benhur Abalos, Klub Don Juan De Manila, Marho, EEG Development Corp., and Rep. Mikey Arroyo. The Boots Anson Roa Trophy Race and the Mowelfund Cup Race are sponsored by Pacific Jet Corp. and Philracom, respectively.
Set Feb. 15 is the Amethyst-I, a handicap race for local special class division gallopers (three-highest group) also with P.5 million up for grabs.
Slated March 15 is the P1.2 million Philracom Commissioners’ Cup for local runners four years and above over 1,900 meters. The P.5 million Aquamarine-II, set March 29, will be open to all local three-year-olds for the distance of 1,500 meters.
