Balces stand out in Milo junior tennis

Siblings Mark and Maia Balce showed their fine forms to lead the winners in the Milo Junior Tennis Cup recently held at the San Beda Alabang courts.

Mark, a veteran of the Junior Davis Cup and the World Juniors, disposed of Davis Alano, 6-3, 7-6(6), to claim the 21-under men’s title. Maia took it even further, winning the 12-Under girls diadem at the expense of Jana Hernandez, 6-0, 6-2, and later teaming up with Hernandez to annex the 12-Under girls doubles crown over Bianca Cruz and Annie Villarosa, 8-1.

Sharing the limelight was double-titlist Kyle Parpan, who beat balikbayan Daniel Villaseñor, 6-3, 6-0, for the 12-Under boys singles plum and later partnered with Kyle Joseph to beat Edward Choy and Gabriel Ignacio, 8-0, for the 14-Under boys doubles title.
