Loyola Football Club lorded it over the rest of the teams after the elimination round in the recently concluded Lotto Cup held at the Manila Polo Club but saw its streak end when it played the Makati Titans in the finals.
Prior to the championship game, Loyola blanked Adobo yellow in the semifinals with Migo Hernandez scoring both goals for Loyola while league MVP Ian Smith scored the lone goal of the game in the second half, leading the Makati Titans to a 1-0 victory over Old School in the other semifinal pairing of the tournament sponsored by Jim Beam and organized by Pure Play, Creative carnival and Titans F.C..
In the finals, Franco Chan played the hero’s role as he booted in both goals of Makati Titans against the lone goal of Dave Puyat in what many considered as an upset victory by the champion team.
At the awarding ceremonies, other individuals were recognized for their on-the-field performances aside from MVP Smith, and among them were Loyola’s Tristan Tiongson as Best Striker, teammate Mark Ramos as Best Midfielder, and Old School’s Rufo Cuenca, Best Defender and Joel Dabao, Best Goalkeeper.
The month-long tournament, which attracted 6 teams, was also supported by Adobo magazine, Fuzion, One Sport and Flashmanila.com, with Santi Ledesma as league commissioner.
