RP's Mepranum decisions American foe

LAS VEGAS – Richie Mepranum of the Philippines, the WBO Oriental flyweight champion, won by unanimous decision over Cesar Lopez of El Paso, Texas, United States in one of the supporting bouts of the Manny Pacquiao-Oscar dela Hoya “Dream Match” at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The judges’ scores were 58-56, 59-55 and 60-54, all in favor of Mepranum who now improves his record to 15-2-1 with 3 KOs, according to philboxing.com.

 In a WBO super bantamweight championship, Juan Manuel “JuanMa” Lopez of Puerto Rico sent Sergio Medina of Argentina to the canvas three times in the first round before the referee decided to stop the contest.

Lopez remains undefeated earning his 24th win and 22nd knockout victory. Medina dropped to 33-2-0.

In another bout, Daniel Jacobs won by TKO in the second round over Victor Lares in an eight-round middleweight encounter.
