Texters win it with Pacquiao success formula
Talk n Text coach Chot Reyes swore they drew inspiration from the Pacquiao-Dela Hoya fight, using the Pacquiao formula to beat Coca-Cola.
The Tropang Texters whipped the Tigers, 90-82, on a sleek running game to stay in strong contention for an outright semifinals entry in the KFC PBA Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum last night.
“We got inspiration from the fight this morning. The shorter and the speedier guy used quickness to beat a taller opponent. That’s the match-up in this contest. We had to use quickness to offset Coca-Cola’s height advantage,” said Reyes.
“We became a lot more smaller as we had to rush Yancy (de Ocampo) to the hospital to get stitches on his cut. With the cut, it was really like boxing. In the end, we really had to make good use of our quickness,” Reyes added.
Mark Cardona made 29 points, Jason Castro tossed in 20 and Ali Peek and Jimmy Alapag combined for 21.
Air21 made key runs in the final half and repeated over Sta. Lucia Realty, 97-88, to gain solo fifth place with an 8-7 record in the second game.
