Marquez still hot on Pacquiao chase

-

LAS VEGAS – Juan Manuel Marquez isn’t done chasing Manny Pacquiao.

The Mexican who fought the Filipino superstar in two classic fights made his presence felt in Wednesday’s final press conference for Saturday’s “Dream Match” between Pacquiao and Oscar dela Hoya.

Marquez, up to this day, believes that he won both fights against Pacquiao, the first one, which ended in a controversial draw in 2003, and the second which ended in a split decision for his 29-year-old foe.

Marquez is not giving up hope that he lands a third fight with Pacquiao.

“Yes, I’m looking for that third fight - wherever. At 140, 147, 150 or 160 (pounds) I will fight him. If he wants to fight me at 147 I will fight him. No problem even if we fight in the Philippines,” said the Mexican.

He said he’d follow Pacquiao to the moon.

Then Marquez talked about the coming fight, saying it’s Dela Hoya, the bigger and more experienced fighter, who should come out the winner.

“I think Oscar will win the fight. Oscar is strong. But Oscar should use his experience. He should use his combinations and move his body. So I think it’s Oscar,” he said.

Marquez was among the Mexican champions who showed up at the press conference to show their support to Dela Hoya.

Among them were Ruben Olivarez, Carlos Zarate, Pipino Cuevas, Humberto Gonzalez, Ricardo Carmona, Rafael Marquez, Israel Vasquez, Oscar Larios and Daniel Zaragoza.

For Marquez, fighting Pacquiao a third time is his own “dream match.”  – Abac Cordero
