Breeders Cup on at Sta. Ana

Who are the Philippine-born and bred champions of horseracing? The answer will be revealed today at the action-filled 2008 Marho Breeders’ Cup championship races at Santa Ana Park.

Now on its 13th running, the MBC is an annual tradition, the richest racing festival which offers P7,050 this year for the six MBC championships.

The 900m MBC Sprint’s entries are EJ’s Magic, Million Dollar, One Man’s Soul, Minsk City, and Tiger Song. The 1500m Philippine Racing Commission-MBC Juvenile Fillies event will showcase the talents of Bonjour, Eternal Flame, Heaven Sent, Lady Sutter, Rhea’s Gold, Sin Nombre, and Sutter Dee Night.

Also a 1,500m event, the Philracom-MBC Juvenile Colts race features Action Sailor, Chief of Staff, Mastermind, True Value, and the formidable Go Army, who is undefeated so far this season. The Andok’s-MBC Filly Mile will see Blue Arch, Lady Lorelle, Love Story, Speed Madonna, Vergara, and Victorian Stones competing for top honors in their class.

In the Santa Ana Park-MBC Colt Mile, it’s a faceoff between stakes winners Don Enrico and Shining Fame, while Royal Fair and Tabako will try to stage an upset.

In the highlight 2050-meter San Miguel Beer-MBC Classic, defending champion Native Land seeks to fend off challenges from 2007 MBC Filly Mile titlist Es Twenty Six, El Terrible, Ididitmyway, Music King, Native Land, and Treasured Ack.

All offer hefty prizes to first through fourth placers, breeders’ prizes, and custom-created glass trophies by renowned glass artist Impy Pilapil for the winning owners and breeders.

Also on today’s card are the 2,050-meter Philracom Amb. Eduardo Cojuangco Jr. Cup, the PCSO Special Maiden Race for 2YO, and Marho’s Ciara Marie Abalos, Milestone Paper Products Inc., Smart Sports Tipsters, Juggernaut and Cong. Amado Bagatsing Trophy Races.
