Pucay five shots off
Mars Pucay birdied two of the last three holes to card a one-over par 72 and trail Singapore’s Lam Chih Bing by five shots at the start of the $5 million Singapore Open at the Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore yesterday.
Pucay actually came out sputter after the two-hour weather delay as he double-bogeyed the par-4 11th of the par-71 layout but birdiedNos. 16 and 18 for a 37-35 card for a provisional hold of 37th place.
Almost half of the field were still playing at presstime with Juvic Pagunsan shooting an even par card after six holes and Artemio Murakami fumbling with two-over after seven.
Frankie Miñoza and Angelo Que, RP’s best bets in the top level tournament which features some of the world’s top 10 players, groped for form and limped with 79 and 78, respectively, way below the projected cut-off line at 74.
Lascuna was four-over after six holes while amateur Ferdie Aunzo also had a 78.
