Sevillano shines in US chess

Filipino IM Enrico Sevillano continued his winning ways in the US chess circuit as he topped the fifth Chinagozi Wogu Cup Invitational rapid chess tournament in Palmdale, California over the weekend.

Sevillano bested 15 rivals to clinch the top honors with a sweep of five matches.

Another Filipino bet, Ruben Ondangan, lost to Sevillano in the fourth round but took the runner-up honors with 4 points.

Six other players, led by US Masters Craig Andersson, Bruce Bowe, and Allan Bishop, finished tied for sixth with 3 points apiece.
