Knights, Jaguars near 'Sweet 16'

Letran notched its second straight win as it thwarted University of Cebu, 86-76, in the Visayas zonal games of the Philippine Collegiate Championship at the Ormoc Dome, Ormoc City Monday.

The University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars routed the BIT Cruisers, 99-74, to match the Knights’ record and boost their bid for a spot in the Sweet 16.

The Cruisers bowed out of the race after losing to the West Negros U Mustangs, 62-90. The AMA Titans also kissed its hopes goodbye after bowing to the Univ. of Cebu Webmasters, 60-101.

In the crucial crossover matches, Letran faces West Negros U while USJR collides with CESAFI archrival University of Cebu for the two slots in the national finals.

The Philippine Collegiate Championship games, presented by Smart. PLDT, FilOil Flying V and KFC, will move to Cagayan de Oro City for the Mindanao zonal games at the Xavier University gym starting Friday.
