Knights, Jaguars pace PCCL Visayas elims
Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights, and the University of San Jose Recoletos Jaguars paced the ongoing Visayas zonal games of the Philippine Collegiate Championship qualifier by beating separate rivals at the Ormoc Dome in Ormoc City the other day.
The Knights blasted the AMA Titans, Ormoc/Tacloban champion, 96 to 65 while the USJR Jaguars edged out West Negros U, Bacolod/Iloilo champion, 88 to 77 in the event presented by SMART, PLDT, FilOil Flying V and KFC.
Other Visayas zone qualifiers are BIT International College Cruisers, Bohol champion, and the University of Cebu Webmasters, a wild card entry. The top two teams of the Visayas zonals will advance to the “Sweet 16” elite group.
Meanwhile, Rey Gamboa, Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) chairman, announced that the Mindanao zonal games will be held at the Xavier University gym, Cagayan de Oro City from Nov. 14 to 16.
The six teams competing for the last two slots in the “Sweet 16” phase are: University of Mindanao Wild Cats, Davo/GenSan champion, Ateneo de Zamboanga Blue Eagles, Zamboanga provinces champion, Xavier University Crusaders, Cag. de Oro champion, FEU Tamaraws, UAAP third placer, and wild card entries, University of San Carlos Warriors and Capitol U Stallions.
