C Lhuillier eyes repeat over rivals in slopitch
Cebuana Lhuillier eyes a repeat of its first round victories when it meets sister squad Pera Padala and Meralco today as the Manila Slopitch Softball League resumes following a week’s rest in observance of All Saints’ Day.
The Cebuanos (12-0) battle the Pawnbrokers in the second offering of a six-game schedule at 9:30 a.m. then return to the Rosario Softball field in Pasig City two hours later to face the Reddy Kilowatts at 11 a.m.
Amateur Softball Association-Philippines president Jean Henri Lhuillier’s boys, who have beaten all their rivals with an average margin 14.4 runs, own impressive triumphs over Pera Padala, 5-1, and Meralco, 14-8.
Pera Padala and Meralco, tied at second on identical 8-2 cards, warm up for their crucial match up with Lhuillier when they collide in the day’s opener at 8 a.m. with the defending champion Pawnbrokers trying to reaffirm their 11-7 conquest of the Kilowatts in the first round.
Fourth running Canlubang (5-5) seeks to protect its precarious grip of that position and strengthen its bid for a Final Four slot when it collides with Entom of Los Baños (3-5) at 12:30 p.m. and BYOB-La Salle (2-10) at 2 p.m.
The Entom Tigers and the Green Archers clash at 3:30 p.m.
