My MVP idol crowned tonight

-

Who among the 12 finalists will be crowned My MVP (Most Valuable Pinoy) will be known tonight during the airing of the final episode of the reality-based talent identification program over TV-5.

Highlighting what is expected a colorful and elaborate television show starting at 6 p.m. is the coronation of the My MVP that will be selected among the dozen survivors of a four-month search that saw some 3,000 candidate-basketball players try out since July under the tutelage of a coaching staff, headed by Norman Black.

The survivors were James Patrick “JP” Abugan, Reneboy “Popoy” Banzali, Leemore “Lee” Boliver, Galen Cacha, Robby “Rob” David, Alwin “Nonoy” Elinon, Julio “MJ” Magbanua, Raymond “Ray” Montaniel, Jerry Orera, Luis “Jhong” Palaganas, Gemar “Mar Isorena, and Adrian “Ian” Pellejera.

The My MVP would have to be chosen via the candidates’ playing ability and consistency in the five games they played since the list was cut down to 12, including a pair against the PBA Legends, personality and attitude in life

The last of that five-game joust that brought the candidates throughout Luzon, was held last Saturday against the Legends at the New Ynares Center along the Rizal Provincial Capitol in Pasig City.

The reality show, according to coach Beaujing Acot during last Friday’s SCOOP Sa Kamayan weekly session, runs every Sunday on TV-5 and patterned after the same format in the entertainment world in search of future movie and television stars.

“The only difference is this reality show involves athletics personalities, particularly in basketball in an effort to re-discover talents that have not been tapped simply because they were not as popular as the collegiate superstars during their playing days,” Acot explained in the session, sponsored by ACCEL.

“We tried to, un na nga, re-discovered them, honed their talents, improved their personality for them to be ready for stardom like those that overshadowed them before,” he said, assuring that most of the finalists have already received offers, not only from college and varsity teams but in the PBL as well.
