The Bowling Association of Las Piñas returns to the limelight by staging the 2008 UPHS/BALP Cup tournament today at the GameworX Center in Festival Mall, Alabang, Muntinlupa.
Las Piñas Vice Mayor Henry Medina will be guest of honor and main speaker during the opening ceremony at 1 p.m. The event has been revived after a 19-year hiatus as BALP last conducted its annual championship in November 1989.
Medina is a major sponsor of the event together with University of Perpetual Help System and BALP chairman Tem Cornista.

Medina, Cornista and BALP president Nito Tamayo will make the ceremonial roll. Philippine Bowling Congress president Steve Hontiveros will also grace the opening rites.
The tourney is expected to draw a mixture of leading and upcoming bowlers from Metro Manila and the nearby provinces including Imus, Lipa, Alliance of Muntinlupa Bowling Associations, Alabang Tenpin Bowling Association and Tenpin Bowling Association of Makati, among others.
Singles, doubles, trios, all-events and Masters competition will be conducted in two men’s groups (I and II) and one ladies’ category. The men’s events are limited to bowlers with averages of 205 and below, while ladies’ action is open only to 195-and-below bowlers. Handicaps will apply, according to tournament director and board members Dan del Mundo.
All Masters champions will each get a four-year course scholarship at UPHS.
The first two perfect-game scorers will each win P50,000 worth of dental services from sponsor Gold Bridge Philippines.
