C Lhuillier seeks repeat in slopitch

-

Cebuana Lhuillier seeks a repeat of its opening round twin victories over separate opponents today in an effort to preserve its immaculate slate in the second phase of elimination in the Manila Slopitch Softball League at the Rosario Sports Complex in Pasig City.

The boys of Amateur Softball Association-Philippines president Jean Henri Lhuillier first battle the PLIA-RTU combine at the top of a six-game schedule at 8 a.m. before returning to the field to face BYOB-La Salle at 11 a.m.

Should they match their 14-7 conquest of the PLIA-RTU batters in the first round and their 15-5 overwhelming of BYOB-La Salle, the Cebuanos will be cruising to their 11th and 12th wins and a virtual seat in the Super Division playoffs reserved for the top four finishers in the elimination round.

The Cebuanos see no problem disposing of the Archers anew but could face stiffer opposition from their PLIU-RTU counterparts, who last weekend showed improvement on their game by beating erstwhile co-leader Pera Padala, 8-3.

The rest of today’s schedule will see teams in the middle of the standings trying to improve their chances of advancing to the next round, with Canlubang trying to improve on a 4-4 card against PLIA-RTU (4-6) at 9:30 a.m. and winless Sta. Elena (0-10) at 12:30.

Sta. Elena hopes to end a 10-game losing streak when it collides with BYOB-La Salle (1-9) at 2 p.m.
