All slots taken in Milo race

-

BUTUAN CITY – All of the 5,000 runners’ slots in this Sunday’s Milo Butuan elimination run and 12 cheer dance berths have been taken with hundreds more wanting to register in this first come first served weekly Milo event held in partnership with Bayview Park Hotel-Manila, adidas and the Department of Tourism.

With this development, tomorrow’s Milo event promises another thrilling festival here in the heart of Caraga Region in Northern Mindanao.

Aside from cash prizes amounting to P159,000 at stake for top winners of the 3K kiddie run, 5K fun run, and the centerpiece 21K, are the six slots – three in the men’s and three in the distaff side – for the national finals slated on Nov. 30 in Metro Manila where they compete with the qualifiers from other regions.

Leading contenders for the Butuan City leg crowns are defending champions Ronilo Sandinao and Mary Rose Arman.

According to local race organizer Ben Dacera and Nestle distributor Leonardo Yu, the race will start at exactly 6 a.m. Butuan City executives have been invited to fire the starting gun in the 3K, 5K and 21K run events. Milo sports event AVP Pat Goc Ong and Milo sports executive Andrew Neri will also be on hand in handing the awards to the winners.

Also slated in the festivities is the much-anticipated inter-school cheer-dance competition, which has become one of the popular attractions in the Milo Marathon event.

Next week, the country’s biggest and longest-running foot race brings its act to Cagayan de Oro City.
