De Luna on way out as commish
The revamp continues at the Philippine Sports Commission.
Barely a week after Joey Mundo got his walking papers from Malacañang, reliable sources said another commissioner, this time Ambrocio de Luna, is on the way out.
Mundo served the PSC for almost three years and was replaced by Olympian Akiko Thomson who held her first day in office at the government sports agency yesterday.
President Arroyo named De Luna, a lawyer, as commissioner when the PSC was under chairman Eric Buhain. But he managed to keep his post even when Butch Ramirez formally took over last year.
The source said de Luna will not lose his government post since he is being tapped to serve at the Department of Agrarian Reform as an assistant secretary.
Ramirez said he has not received any formal announcement from Malacañang regarding De Luna’s ouster, but said he knew of the development.
No name has surfaced as to who would replace De Luna although there’s a very long list of applicants waiting to take his place.
Later in the night, De Luna confirmed that he’s on the way out but said he’d rather not make any announcement until the official papers are released by Malacañang.
Last December, Leon Montemayor was also relieved of his post as commissioner, and was replaced by
