Philippine Sports commissioner Eric Loretizo yesterday said the RP delegation to the ongoing Asia-Pacific Girls’ Softball Championship in Guangzhou, China has been padded with “tourists” posing as members of the three Bacolod City teams.
Loretizo, a native of Bacolod City, said the 60-man Bacolod City delegation was loaded with more personnel since it should have been just 45 members, or 15 each per squad.
“I have seen unfamiliar names in the lineup, it should have been limited to 15 people per team,” Loretizo said.
Loretizo called the 15 others as members of the “freebie team”.
He vowed to reveal their names soon to back up his charges.
The three Bacolod City teams were nearly deported after failing to pay the entrance fee amounting to $3,000 per division.
But the PSC, through chair William “Butch” Ramirez, flew to China and settled the amount.
The other financial expenses were apart from the P1 million disbursed by the PSC for all four teams, including the one sent by Adamson U. – Joey Villar
