Wizards’ Arenas hits town today

NBA star Gilbert Arenas arrives today  for a four-day visit dubbed the adidas Agent Zero Tour 2008 where the Washington Wizards’ guard will launch his new signature shoes, visit adidas stores, conduct clinics for kids and endorse socially oriented projects like “Gawad Kalinga.”

A grand welcome awaits one of the six cagers from the celebrated adidas brotherhood who is set to plane in at 4:45 p.m. from Beijing. Arenas, whose NBA career high is 60 points, will be welcomed by adidas managing director Joey Singian and adidas sports marketing manager Goody Custodio.

The top sporting apparel will hold a press conference at 6 p.m. at The Conservatory of Peninsula Manila in Makati City.

Highlighting Arenas’ visit will be his appearance on the Ateneo-La Salle duel in the UAAP tomorrow where he will be joined by US Ambassador Kristie Kenney.

Before the UAAP game, Arenas, the NBA’s Most Improved Player and MVP of the Rookies-Sophomores game during the 2003 NBA All-Star, will visit adidas stores at SM Mall of Asia at 11 a.m. and Rockwell store at 2 p.m.

After the Ateneo-La Salle game, he will head back to the adidas store at TriNoma at 5 p.m. to be followed by the Agent Zero Tour 2008 statement show, also at the TriNoma Activity Center at 6 p.m., where fans and sports buffs alike can meet and greet the NBA star.

Arenas, who averaged 19.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists in 13 contests in the last season, will also lead the turnover of a basketball court to a Gawad Kalinga community as part of adidas’ mission to help promote sports among the youth.
