He’s all geared up for battle
Eric Brown, who mans the fort when chief trainer Freddie Roach is not around, said Thursday Manny Pacquiao has done everything possible in training for his coming showdown with David Diaz.
“He’s put in all the hard work he’s ready to go. He’s done,” said Brown after Pacquiao’s light and short workout at the IBA Gym here, only two days before the two champions dispute the WBC lightweight title.
Brown said Pacquiao could have even afford skipping gym work Thursday, but the boxer, who probably trains as hard like no one, just wouldn’t skip a beat even if Roach went out of town for just a day.
Roach was in a different boxing card here in Vegas so he had to skip the training.
“He just wanted a little sweat,” said Brown, who added he sees no problem at all Pacquiao making the weight Friday.
“That’s without a doubt. I don’t see any problem. He just wants to give himself a little leeway so he can still eat, be strong and be comfortable. At this point we want to go in there as strong as possible,” he said.
Pacquiao, Brown added, is just so strong that moving up in weight won’t make a difference.
“Manny’s a puncher. But as far as punching ability he was born with that. That knockout power is something you are born with. It can’t be trained,” he said.
“It’s either you got it or you don’t. Manny’s got it.” – Abac Cordero
