Former envoy’s son dies in race mishap

-

A 55-year-old real estate broker and son of a former Philippine ambassador to the United States was killed in a rain-hit motorcycle accident at the Batangas Racing Circuit (BRC) in Barangay Maligaya in Rosario, Batangas Sunday.

Rosario police chief Senior Inspector Ruperto Hupida identified the victim as Jose Maria Mutuc, a resident of San Lorenzo Village in Makati City and husband of Manila and Barcelona real estate heiress Inmaculada “Inma” Tuazon-Zaragoza Ortoll.

According to report, Mutuc, on board his Duke 990cc motorcycle, was negotiating the 12th and last lap of the race when his bike skidded on the wet track and slammed into the rubber barriers.

Hupida said Mutuc, son of former ambassador Amelito Mutuc, sustained severe head injuries and died while being treated in an undisclosed hospital. - Arnell Ozaeta
