Cream of beach volley to clash in Boracay

After the tightly-fought elimination rounds for Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, action in the Nestea Beach Volley National Circuit reaches its final grind beginning Thursday at the world-famous island paradise of Boracay.

A total of 18 teams are vying for this year’s crown with the winning squad getting P125,000, second placers P80,000 and third placers P55,000. The three-day event also offers a lot of fun and activities not only for the competitors but for beach volley fans as well as parties, a fashion show and a concert top-billed by the country’s hottest bands have been lined up.

Bannering the Luzon qualifiers are Far Eastern University, Philippine Christian University and University of Perpetual Help-Dalta in the men’s division and Adamson University, Far Eastern University and Lyceum of the Philippines in the women’s division.

University of Southern Philippines Foundation, Foundation University and University of St. La Salle head the Visayan contingent in the men’s division while defending champion University of the Visayas, three-time champion Southwestern University and University of Southern Philippines Foundation are seeing action in the women’s side. 

Making up the Mindanao delegations are the men’s teams of Capitol University, University of Mindanao-Tagum and Holy Cross of Davao College and the women’s teams from University of Mindanao-Tagum, Holy Cross of Davao College and University of Mindanao-Davao.

Missing in this year’s finale is defending men’s champion Mindanao State University-Tawi-Tawi, which failed to make it to the semis stage during the Mindanao eliminations in Tagum Beach Volley Drome at Rotary Park.
