Unscathed B Pier duel Coffee Kings

-

Harbour Centre, already assured of a semifinals berth, now chases a sweep bid in the PBL Lipovitan Amino Sports Cup eliminations, gunning for win No. 11 against the San Mig Coffee Kings today at The Arena in San Juan.

The Batang Pier are raring to score a sweep or finish on top at the end of the double-round elims to gain the incentive of having to choose from two quarterfinal survivors they will meet in the best-of-five semifinals.

San Mig Coffee, with a 5-5 win-loss card, is still in the thick of the fight for an outright semis slot, three wins behind the second-running Hapee Toothpaste team.

Burger King is running third at 6-6, and the BK Whoppers seek to jack up their stock as they tangle with the Noosa Shoes side in the day’s other game at 2 p.m.

Coach Allan Gregorio and his BK Whoppers ended a four-game losing run with a 60-48 win over Bacchus Energy Drink Tuesday.

Noosa Shoes is also coming off a win, blasting Pharex Medics, 80-73, largely behind the 27-point explosion of Noy Javier.

With a 5-6 record, the Shoe Stars need to win three of their remaining four games to assure themselves of a slot in the next round.

Aside from Javier, Noosa Shoes coach Leo Isaac is also counting on reigning NCAA MVP Kelvin dela Peña, Jemal Vizcarra, Allan Evangelista and John Wilson against Burger King which is likely to turn to Mike Bravo, Abby Santos, Marcy Arellano and Khiel Misa.
