Lady Falcons top seeds in UAAP Final Four
Adamson battled back from two sets down to turn back Far Eastern U, 23-25, 20-25, 25-21, 25-20, 15-12, and grab the top seeding in the Final Four of the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament yesterday at The Arena in San Juan.
It was the third straight win by the Lady Falcons against the Lady Tamaraws this season.
But they made it the hard way, as Adamson allowed FEU to take the first two sets before bouncing back with Michelle Segodine, Sang Laguilles and Angela Benting showing the way.
The Lady Tams threatened, 12-14, with Anna Abanto scoring a kill, when Segodine took matters with her game-winning smash which capped Lady Falcons’ win in the match lasted for two hours and five minutes.
Laguilles and Benting scattered a combined 43 hits, while Segodine added 21 markers for Adamson, who have not tasted a championship since joining the league in 1974.
“At least naka-recover sina Laguilles at Benting, at hindi kami nawalan ng loob after losing the first two sets,” said Lady Falcons mentor Dulce Pante.
As the top seed, Adamson faces Final Four debutant Ateneo in the semifinals which starts on Wednesday.
FEU, as the second-ranked team, crosses paths with No. 3 University of Santo Tomasin the other Final Four pairing.
The Lady Tamaraws, unbeaten against the defending champion Tigresses this season, have the ‘twice-to-beat’ incentive.
