It was Lazaro’s sixth title in the last 10 months including an ATF-sanctioned tournament held in the country in October last year that makes him the country’s hottest junior netter to date.
“I’m happy of my performance last year, I hope to continue it this year. This is a good start,” said Lazaro, a second year student at St. James High in Malabon, in Filipino.
Lazaro, who ruled the Olivarez Cup, Head-Penn event, Junthapil and two age group tournaments in General Santos and Cagayan de Oro last year, will have a chance to snare another crown as he is currently in the semifinals of the 16-and-under class.

“I’ll try my best to win there also,” Lazaro said.
No. 5 Dheo Talatuyod, who beat top seed Arjohn dela Cruz in the quarterfinals, downed Hans Asistio, 6-4, 6-3, to forge a title showdown with No. 2 Jacob Lagman, who whipped No. 4 Mauro Bengzon, 6-1, 6-0.
