New sports management firm launched

Sports representation in the Philippines now has a new face, one that will take care of its clients from a budding career until way after retirement.

Banker, businessman and sportsman Alven Torres has expanded his talent management firm into the world of local sports, promising to be different from the others by treating his clients ala the International Management Group (IMG).

A.T. Talents Internationale Management will now start getting involved in sports after drawing up a program that will involve, among other things, business opportunities where athletes can put their hard-earned money into.

“Not having so much of a fallback after playing has been the perennial problem of many of our athletes,” Torres, a  former basketball player at Letran and UST, said. “That’s why we have to address that concern as early as we can to ensure their future.”

Torres, who took up Jiujitsu under the legendary Royce Gracie, was a former president and COO of the Mt. Makiling Rural Bank. He said the program will start with a simple savings plan before going into sound investments in various fields.

Right now, A.T. Talents Internationale has clients in modelling, broadcasting and in the movie industry. The firm not only takes care of all of its clients’ concerns but keeps them in top shape by entering them into programs that would allow them to perfect their respective  crafts.

For basketball players to be able to keep their edge, Torres said that he will enter them into weight training programs and a skills camp as often as needed. Interested parties can inquire through [email protected].

“Nothing comes by chance in the world of sports,” Torres, who worked for the Bank of America and the California Federal Bank up until late in the last decade, said.

“We have to be able to  chart their career paths early to make sure that they stay the course,” he added. “After that, everything will come easy and their professional careers will flourish.”
