Pacman Texas tiff sealed

-
Manny Pacquiao returns to the very scene of his greatest triumph – the Alamodome – when he stakes his WBC international super flyweight crown against Mexican Jorge Solis in a blockbuster card on April 14 in San Antonio.

The 12-round fight, which had been in the works for days and which came after a previous planned faceoff with Korean In Jin-chi was called off, was made official Wednesday by Pacquiao’s promoter, Las Vegas-based Top Rank Inc., according to Express-News of MySA.com.

"This is going to be one of the best cards ever in San Antonio," said Top Rank chair Bob Arum. "And not just because of Pacquiao. There are a lot of big names on it."

That includes Jorge Arce, Brian Viloria and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Pacquiao demolished Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera in 11 rounds on Nov. 15, 2003 before a stunned world audience in a scintillating victory that cemented his claim as one of the sport’s top pound-for-pound fighters. He went on to beat another Mexican legend, Erik Morales, twice in three meetings to gain the Fighter of the Year honors last year. Against Solis, Pacquiao will be facing an undefeated challenger with 32 victories and two draws.

Arce (46-3-1, 35 KOs) is scheduled to meet Cristian Mijares (30-3-2, 12 KOs), for Mijares’ WBC super flyweight title in the 12-round, co-main event. – Dante Navarro
