Tiu fastest in Davao natl dragfest

DAVAO CITYManilas Jonathan Tiu of ERE-JCT racing team bested eight of the fastest cars that saw action in the 2006 Speed City Nationals held over the weekend at the Speed City race track here.
Tiu clocked in 10.566 seconds in Mitsubishi Evolution V in the national drag race championship that was organized by the Davao Classic Sportscar Club (DCSCC) in association with the Philippine Drag Racing Familysports (PDRF) and sponsored by Sun Cellular, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Accel, Phoenix Petroleum and the Philippine STAR.
Meanwhile, in the bracket races, Davao Citys Peter Sia of W-Autosports ruled Pro Class bracket in his red all-motor Honda EG.
Heinz Tan of Cagayan de Oro City topped the Hot Street Class (14-15.99 secs) bracket while Paco Ortiz of Team Street Magic made it two-in-a-row by winning the Street Stock Class championships.
Mike Cong of Team Street Magic earned the much-coveted Driver of the Year honors as the 2006 Speed City Nationals race culminated the 2006 racing season. Edith Regalado
