Bulls, Pals appeal case
December 8, 2006 | 12:00am
Players, coaches and staffers, fined almost P.6 million by the PBA Commissioners Office Wednesday in the aftermath of the Yeng Guiao-Frankie Lim squabble, intend to appeal their case.
Though aware that theres a league rule pertaining to their case, everyone thought PBA commissioner Noli Eala could use his discretion to spare them of what they felt harsh punishment they suffered for leaving their bench during the commotion.
"We know theres a rule, pero hindi naman yata commensurate yung fine lalo na doon sa mga staffers lang," said Red Bull team manager Tony Chua. "We should consider reviewing the rule. Standing during a commotion is a natural reaction. And its not bad because in such situation, who else would help pacify protagonists?"
"Its too much for the utilities," said Lim on the P10,000 fines levied on the staffers.
Meanwhile, Guiao took exception on the "child-like" tag the PBA in a press release made in describing their action in the tumultuous Tacloban game.
"Weve been sanctioned and everything should have been settled then. Why issue statement like that? Me and Frankie (Lim) have our stature to protect," said Guiao.
At the resumption of the Talk n Text PBA Philippine Cup today, the raging Bulls, notwithstanding the continued suspension of Guiao, are fancied to make it three in a row against the on-and-off Air21 side in their 4:35 p.m. tiff at the Ynares Center. Nelson Beltran
