Rower calls for maximum exposure

DOHA — Alvin Amposta has batted for more international exposure for the national rowers following a debacle with partner Nilo Cordova in the men’s lightweight double sculls-repechage 1 elims yesterday.

"My partner has changed and it is the first time I have had to handle the scull,"said Amposta, a veteran of the Busan Asiad.

Amposta and Cordova wound up last in a three-team field under tough conditions, turning in 1:57.8 over the 500m race. Kazakhstan and Iraq took the first two slots in the semis with 1:49.71 and 1:52.32, respectively.

"Conditions very difficult, in our country we practice in flat waters. It is hard to adjust here," said Amposta. "We need to train abroad, we need some exposure." — Dante Navarro
