Pinoy cops WBC Youth title

Bernabe Concepcion turned the lights on for the Filipinos when he scored a unanimous decision over Joksan Hernandez of Mexico and won the WBC Youth super-bantanweight crown.
Concepcion, a very late inclusion in the Grand Finale card, was the clear winner. Referee Ed Kugler had it 96-93, Robert Hoyle 98-92 and Patricia Morse Jarman 96-93.
Concepcion was supposed to fight in the undercard of the Bobby Pacquiao-Hector Velasquez bout Thursday, but got a big break when he was included in the bigger card.
Concepcion will take home a purse of $10,000, a few thousand bucks bigger than what he was supposed to get had he fought under the Pacquiao-Velasquez card.
The other Filipino in the card, Ernel Fontanilla, did not get to throw a single punch because his opponent, Oscar Blanquet of Mexico, backed out at the very last minute. Abac Cordero
