Torres breaks Mitsubishi record in Davao race

DAVAO CITYDavao Citys Guillermo "Willie" Torres Jr. broke the countrys fastest Mitsubishi record with a record time of 10.78 seconds on board his Matonetics-tuned white Mitsubishi Evolution IVRS.
Torres, who leads the Team W-Autosports of Davao City, bested the 10.94 seconds record held by Raymund Go of Autosplus Sportzentrum since 2003.
Torres posted the record-breaking performance in the recent 2006 Hot August Races at the quarter-mile Speed City Racetrack where he also captured the crown in the Quick VII drag racing championship.
The event, which formed part of the annual Kadayawan Festival, was organized by the Davao Classic & Sportscar Club and the Philippine Drag Racing Familysport (PDRF).
The sportscar club and the PDRF have been pushing for the "Race the Strip, Not the Street" campaign.
