Cabagnot faces life ban

Alex Cabagbot could be gone for good.

The Fil-Am point guard has gone AWOL at Sta. Lucia and team official Buddy Encarnado said he’ll recommend to the PBA Commissioner’s Office that he be slapped a life-time ban in the league.

Encarnado declined a number of trade offers for Cabagnot.

"He doesn’t deserve to be in the PBA. May mga trade offers para sa kanya. Pero sabi ko huag. Kailangan turuan ng leksiyon ang bata," said Encarnado.

Cabagnot, a product of University of Hawaii in Hilo, left for the US without permission from the team management and coaching staff. Next heard, he played for the LA All-Stars in a Las Vegas tourney participated in by the Talk n Text Phone Pals.

"Magaaral na naman daw. Eh, baka gustong maging
professor," said Sta. Lucia coach Alfrancis Chua in jest.

Sta. Lucia picked Cabagnot second overall behind Tony Washington in last year’s Rookie Draft. After the draft, Cabagnot had a disappearing act but was prevailed upon by some advisers to return. — Nelson Beltran
