Delada, Saluday face off for RP title

-
Dexter Delada and Wyndel Janiola of "Wakee" Salud Stable, will take on separate foes from Davao City in a pair of championship bouts tonight in Dapitan City.

Delada goes up against Christopher Saluday in a 12-round bout for the vacant Philippine lightweight crown, while Janiola trades punches with Philip Parcon for the PBF light flyweight crown in a scheduled tenner.

Delada (14-3, 10KOs) hopes to make it sweeter the second time around. He once vied for the RP 135-pound crown, but lost by fourth-round TKO to Fernando Montilla on Nov. 5 last year at the San Andres Sports and Civic Center in Manila.

He will also try to bounce back from a previous loss by second round stoppage to Ali Funeka in their WBC International lightweight title match last May 27 at the Orient Theatre in East London, South Africa.

On the other hand, Janiola, a two-time world challenger, tackles Parcon in his first ring appearance of the year, which is ironically his only fifth fight in three years.

Janiola split his two matches in 2005. He stopped Ricky Escaner in the second round in an Independence Day boxing at the Lilo-an Sports Complex, but lost to Julius Alcos by unanimous decision over 10 heats last Dec. 28 at the UM Gym in Tagum City.

The rest of the bouts pit Pingping Tepura vs. Jonathan Ba-at, Apol Suico vs. Isidro Balabat, Gideon Amba vs. Jing Supremo and Jonathan Candari vs. Joe Galamiton.
