Archers down UP five, prime up vs Red Lions

-
Make way for the collision between De La Salle and San Beda, the only unbeaten teams in the Total-Filoil-Flying V Homegrown Cup.

The Green Archer All-Stars streaked to their fourth straight victory by downing University of the Philippines, 89-80, priming up for their much-awaited encounter with the idle Red Lions (3-0).

In the tournament sponsored by Shell and Globe and supported by Sunbolt, Immuvit, Accel, Inihaw Circle, Bank of Commerce, Banco de Oro, PBCom, Gerry’s Grill, X-24, Security Bank and Millennium Plans, ex-pros Tony Boy Espinosa poured 35 points, Johnedel Cardel 20 and Noli Locsin 19 as La Salle sent the Fighting Maroons to their third straight loss.

In the other alumni game, Far Eastern University, with Eric Gascon unloading 33 points, weathered a fierce fourth quarter comeback by Ateneo, 92-89, to stay in contention with its second win in four games, sharing third place with idle Letran.

In high school action, La Salle-Greenhills crushed UP Integrated School, 73-56, for its third win in four games, while the FEU Baby Tamaraws edged the Ateneo Blue Eaglets, 67-66, for a 2-2 slate.

The idle San Beda Red Cubs are unbeaten in three games.
