RP squads eye final berths in World inter-team

The World Amateur Inter-Team Golf Championship (WAITGC) will hold the second of six qualifying rounds on April 17-20 at the Sabah Golf and Country Club in Sabah, Malaysia with two teams from the Philippines seeing action.

Heading the RP contingent is Wack Wack Golf and Country Club’s Pablo Soon, sports and games committee chairman, along with fellow club members Lorenzo Teng, Lito Valdez, and Tony Limheng. The other squad is composed of Orchard’s William Lim, and Malarayat’s Mark Mendoza, Michael Mendoza and Gerald Katigbak.

"We prepared hard for this. We will give it our best shot to win this round so we would have the chance to play in the grand finals set at Selangor, Malaysia in September where all leg winners will battle for the grand championship," said Soon, also a director of Wack Wack.

Now on its 13th edition, Tourism Malaysia organizes the annual WAITGC tournament sanctioned by the Golf Club Managers Association of Malaysia.
