Russel Plata and Renz Evangelista spearheaded the CCM tankers campaign in the biggest ever multi-event competition organized by the Manila Sports Council (MASCO).
Plata won five gold medals in the boys 15-18 years old 50-m free, 50-m fly, 50-m breast, 50-m back and 100-m freestyle events, while Evangelista took home three golds in the boys 10 under 25-m butterfly, 25-m backstroke, and 25-m freestyle.
Daniella de Castro of CCM also snatched the gold in the girls 13-14 years old 50-m fly and 50-m backstroke events of the Games presented by Converse with support from the PSC, Pagcor, San Miguel Corp., Super Ferry, Montaña Pawnshop, Globe Telecoms, Milo, Air21, IntrASports, and Concept Movers.
With the city school bets big surge, Binondo is now on top of the tally board with 42 gold, 25 silver and 12 bronze medals and followed closely by Paco with 33 gold, 24 silver, and 30 bronze medals.
Binondo and Paco dislodged erstwhile leaders Pandacan and Dapitan, which has a 31- 28 -24 and 28- 23- 30 card, respectively.
In the centerpiece athletics competition, Raine Reyes of Plaridel Elementary School in Solis, Tondo won the gold medal in the boys 12-under shot put with a heave of 7.51 meters, while Ma. Gizela Bacanaya of Baseco took the gold in the girls 12-under shotput with 3.62 meters.
In baseball, Smokey Mountain-A beat Smokey Mountain-B, 9-8, in the boys elementary division to take the gold medal, while Antonio Villegas HS outscored Smokey Mountain, 15-12, to reaffirm its superiority in the boys high school category. Abac Cordero
