Verdict on La Salle case out today?

-
The UAAP board convenes today in an emergency meeting at the Casino Español where it hopes to tackle and settle every issue that has hounded La Salle for months, including its appeal for a leave of absence and the ad-hoc committee’s report on its investigation on the school’s eligibility scandal.

And there were strong indications that La Salle might be suspended.

"The UAAP board will be a conclave tomorrow (today), there is going to be a decision," one league insider told The STAR yesterday.

"I think the board will come up with a decision tomorrow (today)," said another source.

But a third source said it will depend on how complete the fact-finding committee report is and if all the relevant issues would be discussed and a collective decision would be reached.

"But there is a chance that the board may seek another week to deliberate on it if it couldn’t decide tomorrow (today)," the source added.

The meeting is set at 11:30 a.m. with all 16 board representatives — two each from all eight participating schools, including La Salle’s Danny Jose and Lito Tanjuatco expected to attend.

The same source said that the five-man, fact-finding committee headed by Fr. Ermito de Sagon, OP, of Santo Tomas had already wrapped up its inquiry and will present its recommendation to the board today.

Once the proposal is made, the board will then deliberate on it and put it to a vote. Of the eight voting members, all but La Salle can vote with Rendon casting his only in case of a tie. — Joey Villar
