Bacolod security in place

- Antonieta Lopez -
BACOLOD CITY — Newly-installed city police Chief Supt. Pedro Merced has given assurance that the city’s security measures are in place for the SEA Games.

Merced presented security preparations to the members of the city council, which passed a resolution declaring Bacolod ready for any possible untoward incident, including terrorist attacks during the biennial Games.

Meanwhile, the City Mayor’s office is fast-tracking the release of the P6 million budget to fund the city’s preparation for the Bacolod sports events.

The council has approved the appropriation ordinance only last month after Bacolod SEA Games Organizing Committee completed the requirements stipulated in the Sanggunian resolution, which includes Philsoc board resoluton authorizing Philippine Olympic Committee president Jose Cojuangco Jr. to sign the Memorandum of Understanding with Mayor Evelio Leonardia.
